Ilijas Farah: Strongly self-absorbing C*-algebras and logic

SAŽETAK: In the past two decades the number of interactions between logic and operator algebras increased substantially. In this talk I will talk about the strongly self-absorbing C*-algebras introduced by Toms and Winter, and based on seminal work by Connes and Effros-Rosenberg.  These algebras have remarkable model-theoretic properties. The talk will be based on joint works with Hart, Tikuisis, and Rørdam and more recently Gábor Szabó.
